Highlights from the Inaugural ECO Talks - Policy Dialogue Series

The inaugural session of the 𝐄𝐂𝐎 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 - 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, held last week, focused on “Promoting Women-led Indigenous Enterprises to Accelerate Economic Growth in Nepal.” The event featured Hon. Kamala Roka, Member of Parliament and Former Minister for Youth and Sports, as the Policy Champion, leading a powerful discussion on the challenges and potential for women entrepreneurs in Nepal.

The panel included Ms. Radhika Aryal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ms. Neeru Rayamajhi Khatri, President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal, and Dr. Yamuna Ghale, Agriculture, Food Security & Gender Expert. Together, they examined the obstacles faced by women-led indigenous enterprises, focusing on the need for inclusive financial investment and innovative resource mobilization.

Key recommendations were made to inspire parliamentary action aimed at promoting women-led businesses and accelerating Nepal’s economic growth. The event brought together over 60 policymakers, CSOs, private companies, journalists, and other stakeholders, creating a collaborative environment for addressing these critical issues.

As part of the 𝐄𝐂𝐎 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 series, future dialogues will feature panels with policy beneficiaries, policy critics, and policy implementers, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of economic policy challenges.
