Consultation on Promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment

Daayitwa conducted three stakeholder consultation sessions with women, local policy implementers and policy critics in Bhairahawa, from November 22nd to November 24th as a part of its research and civic engagement initiative, Promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment. To engage wider stakeholders for building momentum on women’s economic empowerment, a multi-stakeholder event was held on November 25th, which was attended by officials and representatives from various government institutions, federations, civil society groups such as District Administration Office, District Development Committee, Women’s Development Office, Department of Small and Cottage Industry, Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce, Dalit Women’s Association, Pourakhi and others.

The objective of this research and civic engagement initiative is two folds. First, to understand key challenges women face along the identified seven thematic issues and available resources. Second, to understand perspectives of local policy implementers and critics and assess their readiness to promote Women’s Economic Empowerment.

Daayitwa will additionally engage with stakeholders in Solukhumbu and Surkhet in the next two months and share its report’s finding in February in Kathmandu.
